National Police Air Service (NPAS) is looking for fixed-wing pilots to join their team which provides borderless air support to all police forces across England and Wales 24/7, 365 days a year. On a daily basis, NPAS helps save lives, tackles criminality and keeps people and communities safe.

Crews provide effective aerial support to ground based officers and in doing so improve operational response to incidents within the highest safety standards.

Working alongside Tactical Flight Officers, NPAS Pilots have the opportunity to make good use of their skills and experience on a variety of police missions.

Required skills

  • P68 Type Rating: YES.
  • Languages: English
  • UK issued Part-FCL Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) with RT Licence;
  • UK Class 1 flight crew medical certificate;
  • ICAO Level 6 proficiency in English language;
  • The unrestricted right to live and work in the UK;
  • Hold, or have held within the last 6 years a valid Multi-Engine Piston (land) class rating (MEP(land));
  • Hold, or have held within the last 6 years a valid Single Pilot, Multi-Engine Instrument Rating with a Performance Based Navigation endorsement (IR-SP-ME Class + PBN);
  • 1500 hours of total flying experience;
  • In current multi-engine practice;
  • 500 hours flying experience Pilot in Command;
  • 100 hours IFR;
  • 50 hours of total night flying experience;
  • 25 hours of total night flying experience as Pilot in Command;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be a self-starter;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to the crew while carrying out other tasks;
  • A full UK driving licence.
